The official rates are, from the airport, RWF 2500 for the first kilometer traveled and 600 RWF per additional kilometer (example for the Union Trade Center located 11km: 3100 RWF).
Motorbike taxis, known as ‘motos’ in Rwanda, are still the most popular form of transport in Kigali for most people. They’re quick, cheap, convenient, and (mostly) safe.
Taxis are available 24 hours a day at Kigali International Airport. They are mostly white with a horizontal strip of color. Most do not have meters and any race in Kigali or outside Kigali must be negotiated with the driver before entering the vehicle.
Though Rwanda doesn’t yet have Uber, SafeMotos and Yego Moto are Kigali’s version of Uber for moto-taxis. … Yego Moto doesn’t have a summoning app yet, although one is currently in the works and their drivers can still generally be found in Kigali’s busiest spots.
The airport is located on the outskirts of Kanombe, southeast of Kigali, about 5 km from the city center by expressway and about 10km from the central business district of the Rwandan capital. Located at 1491 meters above sea level, its terminal is one of the highest in the world among international airports.
